Venue:Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU

Please join us for a Summer Membership Mixer and enjoy a special tour of our three new exhibitions. Tennessee Williams: Playwright and Painter, The Sexuality Spectrum and Charlie Cinnamon: Legendary Press Agent.

Tennessee Williams: Playwright and Painter features nine of Tennessee William’s paintings dating from the 1970s. The paintings are on loan from David Wolkowsky, one of Williams’ closest friends and long-standing Key West resident. Wolkowsky hosted Williams at his private island on Ballast Key, nine miles off of Key West and at his Pier House Resort.

The Sexuality Spectrum uses the language of fine art to present, celebrate and honor individuals whose lives were and are jeopardized by discrimination and prejudice. The artists in this exhibition have captured and reflected back the joys, the pain, the marginalization, the anger, the exclusion, the hurt, the persecution and the pride of the LGBTQI community. The common thread that unites these works is the intent by the artists to use art as a tool to promote understanding, inclusion and justice for all, regardless of sexual orientation, family status, gender or age.

This one-of-a-kind retrospective about Charlie Cinnamon's extraordinary life exhibits never-before-seen treasures from his early years growing up in New York, his military service during World War II, and his illustrious career as “The Preeminent Theatrical Press Agent.” Charlie Cinnamon: Legendary Press Agent, is not only a tribute to one of the greatest talents in the industry but also a delicious look into the “behind the scenes” world of the entertainment industry.
