Professional Development Workshop: More Than Momentos - How Objects link to Memory

Event information

Workshop Description: This opportunity provides educators with Holocaust themed education that, through content, uniquely informs the talent, resilience and human dimensions of a significant historical period. Students will appreciate how the object focus of realizing creative potential links this historical narrative to their own lives. We will respond to the essential question: As educators, how does instilling what we vision, make, or project out of our unique selves connect to our experience of cultural migration and fascination with discovered treasures?

Specifically, the workshop:

• Will explore the cultural significance of artifacts. • Address how surviving generations honor memory. • Provides educators with enhanced methods of contextualizing identity development. • Combines formats of lecture, interactive exercises, group collaboration and lesson plan development.

Workshop Goals: This interactive Problem Based Learning professional development opportunity uses the visual arts and social history content to indicate the universal striving that speaks to all people regardless of ethnicity or period. Educators will work collaboratively to explore components of effective instructional practices to engage ALL learners. Workshop Fee is $12.

(7) Master Plan Points awarded based on attendance & completion of follow up assignment.
